Aprilia, a motorcycle company based in Noale, Italy is among the seven brands owned by the world’s fourth largest motorcycle firm, Piaggio & Co. Aprilia began producing scooters in 1945 but soon expanded their business into producing sports bikes. To date, it is famous for its 1000cc V-twin Superbike RSV Mille. However, the company saw that they are more skilled in terms of creating smaller displacement motorcycles. But Aprilia makers would not give up joining in higher displacement categories. In fact in February 2008, it produced the V-4 super bike called the RSV 4 built for the 2009 Superbike World Championship Season 1.

Since Aprilia is more adroit in producing motorcycles with smaller displacement, most of its clients patronize the Aprilia scooters more than their other products. Some of their models that are currently on the market include the Atlantic Aprilia scooters series. Other models include the Leonardo and the Aprilia Mojito/ Habana models. Scarabeo, SR series, and Sportcity (in 125, 200 and 250-cc displacements).

What sets these scooters apart from other racing brands is that its maker does not easily jump into the bandwagon and manufacture motorcycles or products that they have less knowledge of. They try to venture into making other products, but still focuses more on the products that they are expert in.
